A few habits that keep sterling silver and moissanite looking new.
Everyday
- Put your jewellery on last — after perfume, hairspray, moisturiser and make-up.
- Take it off before swimming. Chlorine and salt water are hard on silver.
- Take it off before the gym or heavy cleaning. Sweat and household chemicals both dull the finish.
Cleaning
Warm water, a drop of washing-up liquid and a soft toothbrush is all a moissanite stone needs. Brush gently behind the stone, where skin oils build up and take the sparkle out, then rinse and pat dry with a soft cloth.
Never use bleach, and avoid ultrasonic cleaners on adjustable rings — the vibration can loosen an open band over time.
Storage
Keep each piece in its Argenne box, away from light and damp. Silver tarnishes fastest in humid air, so a bathroom shelf is the worst place for it.
If it dulls: sterling silver naturally darkens over months. A gentle polish with a silver cloth brings it straight back. This is normal and not a fault — it is what tells you the metal is real.
Adjustable rings
Open your ring gently, from the widest part of the band, and only as far as you need. Adjusting it repeatedly and forcefully will weaken the silver, as it would with any open band.
